PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTER
Physio Center (HelpAge): HelpAge is a leading non-profit platform that has been helping disadvantaged senior citizens in the country for three decades. Research has proven that physiotherapy significantly improves the wellbeing of senior citizens and PARC is seeing the benefits in Pilani.
AROGYA CLINIC
Arogya (PARC): Arogya is a primary healthcare clinic for the needy and underprivileged at PARC, open 6 days a week, and headed by a veteran doctor with 30+ years of practice. Apart from attending to patients and referrals to hospitals, Arogya also conducts regular medical checkups for school children and health camps.
HEALTH CAMPS
Health Camps (PARC): PARC organizes 5 or 6 different health camps every year involving local doctors, specialists and hospitals, pro-bono, in diagnosis, tests and even surgery.
The gift of knowledge is perhaps the best one can give. Our goal is to make education accessible to everyone in the community.
GYAN BODH
Gyan Bodh (NIRMAAN): This initiative provides supplemental teaching and coaching to primary and secondary school students, encouraging experimentation with Prayogshala, a hands-on discovery center for children. It is a matter of great pride that a few Gyan Bodh students have successfully gained admission to BITS Pilani, thanks to the selfless work of our volunteers.
DIGITAL INDIA
Digital India Lab (PARC): The aim is to raise digital literacy in the local community by partnering with CEERI scientists and BITS students. The Digital Lab holds 20+ computers with instructors, and the course is certified by RSCIT. A completion certificate from this course enables trainees to apply for government jobs.
SCIENCE EDUCATION
Scientific Education Initiative (Agastya): We provide hands-on exposure to scientific experiments tied to the curriculum of the rural schools around Pilani through the PARC Discovery Centre, equipped with all the tools needed to conduct scientific experiments, and Mobile Labs, two mobile vans outfitted for carrying and conducting experiments to schools in remote areas.
We support the local communities in and around Pilani and enable them to live a life without uncertainties about the future.
YOUTH VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Vocational Training (PRATHAM): This 3-month residential program, certified by The Taj Group of Hotels, involves training rural youth for employment in the hospitality sector through a secure and usable infrastructure and regular lectures by BITS faculty. 90% trainees find jobs!
SWAYAMSHAKTI SEWING CENTER
The new Swayamshakti center aims to inculcate entrepreneurial spirit among rural women of Pilani by training them with professional stitching techniques. MESS WORKERS’ INSURANCE (PARC)
This program ensures continuous group life insurance for the entire BITS Pilani Mess Workers’ community, helping many families receive LIC claims in the unfortunate event of the demise of a primary wage earner.
We strive to help communities in and around Pilani live with dignity and respect and support them in their daily struggles.
LEGAL HELP FOR WOMEN
Women’s Cell (PARC) : The Cell helps implement the various acts designed to safeguard women and children, such as the Domestic Violence Act 2005, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013, Dowry Prohibition Act 1961, Prohibition of Child Marriages Act 2006 among others. The community can also avail legal services for redressal with the help of our lawyers.
SOCIAL RESEARCH PROJECTS
Social Research Projects (PARC): These are worthy research projects conducted in partnership with the BITS faculty. Current collaborations include developing bio-pesticides with a grant from the Department of Science & Technology (Ministry of Science).
SENIOR CITIZEN EXCURSIONS
In partnership with HELPAGE, PARC organizes and conducts tours to various historical places within the country for senior citizens in the community. The local community looks forward to such excursions and there are many stories that are told and retold! The excursions are a much-needed relief from day to day drudgery for many folks.
AKASH GANGA
Sustainable Innovations, a US based Non-Profit, operated from the PARC with the goal of water harvesting, drip irrigation.
These experts went from village to village evangelizing and setting up water harvesting solutions.
